Dear Relatives Everywhere,

Kalpulli Turtle Island Multiversity, like Daddy in the old rock ‘n’ roll song, is home to stay and we expect to grow exponentially. All the members of our board of directors, including Linda and David, our webmasters, have wish lists. Let me give you a bit of it at this time. Since this enterprise is multifaceted, our requests will cover several subjects. First, I call upon principled and thoughtful women and men everywhere who are committed to environmental and cultural restoration, justice, peace, the end of all orthodoxies, etcetera, to feel free to submit essays, poetry, and other general of literature which reflect these values, and we will consider posting these works on this website. Secondly, we will be creating a branch of the project which was conceived in July, 1988. It is called the Kalpulli Drum Society. Among healthy indigenous cultures, primary importance is attached to the drum. In many nations the drum is the centering and feminine energy. We should like to see chapters of Kalpulli Drum Society established everywhere. Drumming is about restoration, peace, balance, equality, and every other value I can name. It is good that we should practice during the winter months along with story telling. In the summer the chapters can perform in various venues.

I will have more to say in future letters to the world, but for now let me close with this. Kalpulli Turtle Island Multiversity will initiate a worldwide conversation under the general title Beyond Empire. To paraphrase my late father, it is all well and good to complain about the world as it is, be we who comprise this enterprise recognize that there is a world beyond George Walker Bush and the empire he is attempting to force down our throats. We need to get beyond protest and we need to get serious about a world community based on ecological and cultural wealth as opposed to the bottom line and eternal war. We invite other principled and progressive organizations everywhere to link up with us in order to advance and deepen this conversation. Please let us hear from you. Finally, let me again assert that if every person on this planet who cares about the values mentioned above would send the equivalent of one US dollar or more, we would be able to begin to carry our the goals mentioned in the mission statement which you can find on this website.
